Dianthus are one of my favorite flowers.
The pretty pink blooms last all summer.
The tags say they're annuals. But I cut them down in the fall and they've endured our North Dakota winters to return the next year. My mom does the same. She has dianthus in her flowerbeds from my teen years when I planted them. Grandma does too. I think of them while deadheading the spent blooms. Another reason to love the lacy plants--they remind me of loved ones.
Hardy and beautiful. A winning combination.
